Job Description

Are you looking for a challenging and rewarding new opportunity in Southampton? Do you enjoy liaising with all levels of the business as well as customers?

This is your opportunity to be a permanent Applications Engineer in Southampton, who will be responsible for direct interaction with customers in support of the growing clients. You will be trusted as the technical point of contact for the customer and will be responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the sales process.

If you enjoy dealing and interacting with people, this role is for you as it will involve frequent interaction with the Sales, Performance and Engineering teams to develop solutions to meet customers' requirements.

You will be supported to build your expert product knowledge to be able to complete technical feasibility studies and early application development work, as well as identifying and providing reliable solutions for technical issues.

Your high standard of experience in electro mechanical system configuration will be used.

Your Responsibilities:

Together with the Support and Engineering teams, you will be optimising products, ensuring that products stay up to date and continue to satisfy customer needs.

With your prior experience, you will be able to respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFQs.

The role will involve going out onto site, to complete the post sales validation process, carrying out detailed technical studies to determine the feasibility of integrating the equipment within the design constraints. This goes hand in hand with the development of customer application specifications, clearly identifying technical constraints, scope of supply, etc.

Your creativity skills will be used, as you will be creating application work programs and determining how to integrate the standard products into the overall solution. This will include a top level bill of materials and any new parts or products that may be required. You will normally do this with developing initial concept designs and producing outline general assembly drawings within the Engineering team.

Qualifications/ Background:

To maximise your chances, you would have had previous experience in a technical application engineering or sales support role, a recent degree or equivalent in scientific or technical subject preferred, a proven track record in customer facing roles and able to represent the company to a high professional standard, and ability to articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users.

If you have experience of high-speed machinery, electronic control systems and power electronics then this is still strongly considered, or experience in the power generation industry with a solid understanding of generator set packages.

Good pension, onsite parking, Life Assurance, Health Insurance & 27 days holiday! The salary range is £30,000 to £40,000 per annum depending on experience.
