Job Description

We are working with an international, mechanical biased manufacturer supplying the aviation industry to recruit a competent Buyer for a 7-month fixed term contract role. You will be joining a friendly, professional company who value their employees and have a great working environment.

This role is contract but you would be employed by the company directly so would be eligible for certain benefits like flexi time, shopping discount schemes, 25 days holiday, free parking, subsidised canteen (so you can grab a full English on a Friday!! and child care vouchers. The standard week is 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday.

The role would see you acting on SAP/MRP and in-house manufacturing activities requiring sub-contract and purchased parts. Creating, placing and acknowledging purchase orders within the supply chain.

Maintaining SAP data, order confirmations, supplier details, source lists etc.

Overseeing and monitoring supplier performance

Building and developing partnerships with internal customers, key suppliers and customers.

Feeding back to production at meetings and keeping teams informed.

Representing the purchasing team and its suppliers at supplier quality clinics.

Proactively anticipate and consider mitigation actions to ensure times deadlines are met.

Requirements for the role…

  1. This would suit someone who is not working or someone in a temporary role who would love an interesting position to tide them over into next Spring - we really need someone who could start within the next few weeks
  2. You will be playing a key role in the business we are looking for someone who has experience of buying/purchasing within a manufacturing or engineering environment
  3. SAP Experience would be ideal - may consider similar systems such as MRP
  4. You would be putting your strong negotiation skills to test here as well as possessing great communication skills to liaise with various departments in the business as well as suppliers
  5. Experience creating purchase orders, following up on orders with order acknowledgements, expediting, dealing with supplier queries
  6. CIPS
  7. Capable of implementing a defined action plan and identifying new actions
  8. Technically minded to deal with sub-contract services
