Child Care Worker

Here at FPR Group we are recruiting on behalf of our very well-established client based in Brighton, who currently have an amazing opportunity which has recently become available at one of their outstanding services.

Whilst working at this friendly service, you will be expected to undertake and confidently complete specific duties and tasks in a professional manner at all times. Working in the best interests of the children and young people in our care and ensuring their basic and essential care and learning needs are met as well supporting your colleagues and senior management. You will liaise in a professional manner and promote effective working relationships & positive links with clients, colleagues, and agencies working for and associated with our client and the wider community. Reporting to your senior management for any and all concerns and or issues that arise as well as undertake delegated tasks and instructions from line managers and others with relevant authority, to a level of competence expected from the grade of the post.

Engage in the process of informal resolution of problems and difficulties that may arise, always in the aim of maintaining a harmonious and collaborative working environment. You must have a flexible approach, working times including a shift roster which includes weekends, evening work and undertaking sleep-in duties as well as assisting in times of staff shortages and increased workload and demand and in emergency or 'unplanned' situations. You will promote positive behaviours and only where absolutely necessary as a measure of last resort the use of appropriately instructed and authorised recognised restrictive physical intervention techniques. You may find yourself expected to manage and maintain child's individual file, liaise with relevant professionals and individuals such as social workers, therapists, colleagues of yours, managers and senior managers to directors regarding aspects of a child's care plan. Preparing review reports and monthly summaries of individual logs, act in the role of advocate for the children and young people as and when required. Take personal and collective responsibility for managing all aspects of planning, monitoring, developing and implementation.

You will be expected to have relevant knowledge and understanding of a good child care practise and healthy child development, a reasonable standard of education and general knowledge. Good written and oral communication skills and the ability to record accuracy, objectively and with clarity. Experience using IT, the ability to work confidently in a team and understanding the importance of confidentiality, privacy, and discretion. You will have experience of or at least appreciation of the stressful and emotionally and physically challenging nature of the role. Have the ability to deliver a consistently high standard of quality care and nurture to vulnerable and challenging children/young people and work in a residential home for children and young people with social, emotional, behavioural difficulties, trauma, and complex needs. Organisational skills, the ability to effectively prioritise self and workload within agreed timescales is ideal and to be eager to commit to developing self towards achieving a position as a therapeutic carer, able to self manage effectively and successfully at all times.

You will ideally have a minimum of 1 year proven experience gained in the field of residential child care or social care, reasonable understanding and awareness of current child care legislation.
