Deputy Houseparent - Ardingly

A permanent full time role has arisen for a Deputy Houseparent to work in a school for children with beahviour problems and associated learning disabilities. The school is for children who are unable to attend mainstream schooling for a variety of reasons and sometimes can display challenging behaviour.
Your role will involve you working mon-fri in a residential setting where you will offer day to day support and guidance to the children who are accomodated in your residential unit. You will also be required to show a level of support in the classroom where you will be guided by qualified teaching staff and professionals.
You will be involved in the range of different therapies available to the children including gardening, equine therapy and many other specialist therapies and alternative learning provisions.
You must have knowledge or pe prepared to fully embrace the Steiner concept of child led education, the school is a proud advocate of this method as it allows children who are unable to be mainstream schooled a chance to flourish and get the most out of their education as possible.
You must be prepared to create a warm, safe and friendly environment for the learners and be prepared tot ake part in recreational activities.
You will be working very favourabel shifts on a term time only basis, 36 weeks per year.
