Engineering Estimator (CNC / Metal Fabrication)
We are recruiting for an Estimator to join a manufacturer in Portsmouth to work closely with the Proposals Manager as well as an established Estimator. This company machine and fabricate metal products for a variety of high end industries, so if you are within similar engineering and fancy a career change into Estimating or have relevant experience already then read on now!
This role is easily accessible based in Portsmouth and will pay the right professional up to £42000 a year.

You will need to be able to demonstrate a good understanding of manufacturing processes and have a strong commercial awareness in this role. There will be a high degree of involvement with customers and suppliers at the proposal stage and during the manufacturing cycle, where you will become the focal point for customer communications.
You'll ideally be familiar with estimating philosophies such as using historical data, known parameters data modelling and the generation of estimates. In this role you'll also be able to generate and maintain price lists for repeat items.
Your views will be heard when suggesting innovative manufacturing and commercial solutions to gain the maximum competitive advantage at both the tendering and manufacturing stages.
What do I need?
- The ideal candidate could have served an apprenticeship in a mechanical discipline or be educated to at least HNC standard
- CNC or Metal Fabrication background or closely relating
- Experienced with costings, estimating etc
- Strong communication skills written and verbal
- Ambitious, confident with commercial awareness
