Job Description

We are working with a long established, world renowned engineering business to employ an electrical or electro-mechanical biased Engineering Technician to work at their site in Portsmouth.

This role is paying £24'000 per annum working 37 hours per week (with some flexibility if required on the odd occasion to stay on e.g. if a test run hasn't finished) plus a contributory pension scheme, excellent working environment, progression opportunities, share options, 25 days holiday.

Your main role will initially be to test electro-mechanical products for the aerospace, medical, and nuclear, industries, operating rigs and recording data - eventually, the position will evolve into other responsibilities/areas.

You will need to have a solid understanding of hydraulics as well as a good electrical testing background

This could suit someone who has recently completed an apprenticeship or someone who has some electrical testing experience and is looking for a more varied role (ie. Learning mechanical aspects as well)

Candidates need to have a strong aptitude for engineering with hands on experience within a test or low volume manufacturing environment

Computer literate able to use computer programs able to enter data correctly

You must be happy to work on your own initiative, with a good work ethic and comfortable working in a small engineering team.

Good written and verbal communication

The Role

Perform testing with supervision

Review job request, determine availability of required equipment and materials and prepare / order materials as needed

Review timelines and discuss schedule conflicts

Document preparation, assemble test apparatus

Operate testing equipment/instrumentation and be able to troubleshoot when necessary

Perform test work according to laboratory request requirements

Record raw data directly onto datasheets or into notebook notifying laboratory management of any test delays, problems or deviations

Disassemble and clean test equipment

Perform test work and execute work instructions
