Financial Accountant

Gosport, Portsmouth

Ideal candidate:

To succeed in this job, your main function will be to be responsible for providing corporate reporting for all UK operating entitles, along with statutory reporting for the company. We are looking for qualified experienced candidates who have fire in their belly to get stuck into a new role amongst a supportive team within a growing international company.

Main Responsibilities:

General Ledger Reporting:

  • Account reconciliations based on knowledge of physical representation of account to confirm ledger balances
  • Journal entries review for compliance with corporate policies and internal controls
  • Month end and year end close to meet internal and external reporting requirements including commentary on variances
  • Corporate journals preparation and posting
  • Intercompany Reconciliations

Financial Disclosure:

  • Research and presentation of accounting guidance as required for UKGAAP

Year End:

  • Prepare audit pack and Statutory accounts for statutory audits
  • Coordinate with external auditors to ensure timely completion of UK operating and UK Holding companies

Indirect Taxes:

  • VAT filing, review exemptions and prepare internal guidance as required

Corporation Tax:

  • Coordinate with tax advisors and internal tax departments to prepare corporation tax provision for US and UK GAAP and file returns at HMRC


  • Ensure bank controls are maintained in accordance with StandardAero procedures
  • Ensure accurate and regular cash flow forecast are completed

Accounts Payable:

  • Ensure VAT is correctly accounted for on inputs
  • Adherence to Quality Management Systems (QMS), Safety Management Systems (SMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and all associated Business Manuals
  • Other duties as required by the business

Expected Standards:

  • Develop effective stakeholder relationships across all levels, both internal and external, including company auditors, tax advisors and bankers
  • Ability to work across organisational boundaries and communicate at all levels within the business including corporate and local Senior Management Teams

Professional Qualifications:

  • Qualified Accountant - CIMA, ACA or ACCA (e)
  • Knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS (e)


  • Competent user of MS Office and databases (e)
  • Post qualification experience (e)
  • Proven track record of accurate accounting, auditing or financial reporting (e)
  • Experience of working in an engineering environment (d)
  • Competent ERP user (d)


  • Can be flexible on hours, 37 hours per week Monday - Friday with an early finish on a Friday to start your weekend!


£55,000 per annum DOE
