Lead Trainer

Are you an experienced Trainer working within the Transport industry managing Driver training? Do you hold a PCV Licence and have a track record of mentoring & coaching staff? If so then this could be the role for you!

We are currently recruiting for a Lead Trainer to join an impressive and growing travel firm based in Fareham. This is a permanent role and you will benefit from a competitive salary of circa £28,000-30,000, as well as 28 days' holiday per year, free on-site parking, pension scheme, childcare vouchers, cycle to work scheme, perk box (discount scheme) and staff discounts on travel/holidays.

You will need to be able to provide evidence of a Workplace Coaching and Mentoring OR a Leader and Manager Qualification or equivalent.

You will be responsible for internal staff leadership, management, supervision and support as you will be overseeing the overall planning and management of all group training requirements, project management and delivery. You will need to be highly self-driven, motivated and results orientated with a positive outlook and a clear focus on high quality training outputs. Ideally you will be from a transport background and possess a sound balance of skills across the disciplines of training, operations and people management. You will need to be a strong empathetic communicator, keen for new challenges and be able to successfully lead, motivate and manage others as a team player.

In this role you will provide training to not only the drivers but also non-driving staff when required. You will ensure the company has sufficient qualified PCV drivers to meet operational demand and quality standards. You will assist with the recruitment of driving staff and implement efficient recruitment processes. You will check licenses and carry out DBS checks as well as creating and maintaining all Course Assessment Strategies and Course Training Programmes. You will lead all company training audit requirements and plan, develop and deliver the Group Drivers Training Programme, Mentor Programme and CPC training.

You will participate in post own fault incident/accident investigations and work with the Group Operations Managers/Compliance staff to deal with driver performance and disciplinary matters, carrying out remedial training for newly qualified drivers who have been involved in accidents within 12 months of passing their test.

Please note - you will need a full clean driving license including Cat D (PCV) to apply for this role. Knowledge of MS Office is also needed.
