Job Description

We are hoping to find a strong people manager with a background in manufacturing and fabrication local to Havant.

Our client is a manufacturer based in the Havant area they are a long-established company with client around the world, you'd be working with some talented, experienced engineers in a business with a family feel.

Experience, ability and passion is more important than qualifications but it is likely the successful person would have some relevant engineering/fabrication qualification and / or H&S certificates / qualifications.

The salary for the role is early to mid-forties with benefits including free parking, 25 days holiday, a contributory pension, and a 4 and a half day week!

You would be reporting to the MD and have around 3 - 4 supervisors reporting to you as well as being responsible for 50-80 operatives with varying skills and disciplines, including welders, wirers, etc.

Our client is easily accessible by public transport and has free onsite parking for those travelling by car; it is commutable from Havant, Waterlooville, Petersfield, Portsmouth, Southampton, and West Sussex.

The Role:-

Proactively manage Production facility to achieve and exceed customer expectation in terms of OTD, quality.

Manage Production financial performance, staff numbers and overtime spend in line with the business plan to ensure profitability and report factory performance and improvement measures at weekly meeting

Conduct Production meetings, work closely with quality, sales and other departments to solves issue, aid planning and look at continuous improvement.

Create and maintain a positive "can-do" team working culture, develop multi-skilled team working

Manage and conduct staff appraisals, staff discipline, breaches in conduct, manage

Responsible for Health and Safety for the factory, enforcing legal requirements, producing risk assessments, safe systems of work and conducting Health and Safety meetings and training, proactively measure, record and reduce accident rates. (COSHH, staff training and awareness, management of factory Hazardous waste, WEE waste and submission of packaging waste compliance)
