SALARY: £35,000 - £50,000 depending on suitability and experience

HOURS: 40 hrs per week, full time, permanent.

Commutable from Havant, Waterlooville, Fareham, Petersfield, Southampton and Chichester.

We have a permanent role for a Research & Development Engineer - we are looking for someone with (ideally) around 3 - 5 years' commercial Design Engineering experience, a passion for Research and Development who will thrive in a role where they have autonomy and freedom because they are driven and energetic with ability to manage projects and design products concept that can be manufactured within time and financial constraints.

Someone with management capability or aspirations would be great as there is potential in the role to look after a small team in the future. Anyone who applies will need to have a strong mechanical design engineering & manufacturing bias with knowledge of pneumatic fluid power pressure and flow control.

Based in the R&D department, you will be working closely with sales, engineering, manufacturing and production teams to execute and deliver projects on time and within budget.

You will be well organised, with natural leadership and problem-solving skills and a good understanding of Research and Development within mechanical engineering / design engineering, prototype, testing and manufacturing processes of Fluid Controls, including machining, injection moulding, casting, extrusions etc...

You will be an experienced Engineer with a background in R&D, HND or degree qualified in a Mechanical Engineering, mechanical design / manufacturing engineering related subject.

Demonstrable project management skills are essential for the role, being able to plan and execute development projects to time and budget as well as providing effective communication to all stakeholders ( so strong communication skills are a must!).

Aside from your degree/HND etc, a good level of Maths and English will be required, as well as experience of 3D CAD, SolidWorks / FEA software packages.
