R&D Scientist (Molecular Biology)

Are you a biology undergraduate eager to take on a R&D centric role? This company are a global leader in cutting-edge solutions and technologies and are excited to announce a newly created position for a Research & Development Scientist.

Based in Wrexham, this role is offering a competitive salary from £26000 up to £30000 per year, the position involves a 36.25-hour workweek from Monday to Friday (9 am to 5 pm), along with 25 days of holiday, a pension plan of up to 11% (7% employer contribution and 4% employee contribution), a BUPA cash plan, and a discretionary bonus scheme.

In this role you'll be part of a team that that researches, designs, and tests advanced tissue culture solutions. Excitingly you get to see the fruition of your work with on-site manufacturing. The company makes advanced plastic porous products and multi-well plates used predominantly within the pharma and life sciences industries. For this role, the work is orientated around their vast range of microplates with specialised coated products that serve a diverse market.

What will I do?

The role involves manufacturing of buffers and reagents used in the Chromatrap epigenetics portfolio, including their unique DNA Extraction and Chromatin Immunoprecipitation technology. Some routine QC, standard maintenance of lab equipment and cell lines and provision of technical support will be required. The Research and Development part of the role will focus mainly on microplate coatings, creating and refining processes for new and existing products. Plenty of opportunities will arise to get involved in a wider range of development projects, including cross discipline with chemists and engineers.

What do I Need?

* A biology-based degree is a must, showcasing your foundational understanding of biological principles.
* Proven experience in a laboratory setting with knowledge of laboratory disciplines.
* Proficiency in aseptic technique and common molecular biology techniques, i.e cell culture,

  • Industry experience via a placement year or post degree
