Regional Commodity Manager

Are you an experienced Commodity Manager looking for your next position in Portsmouth? This is your chance to be a Regional Commodity Manager to work in the Purchasing Department of a well-known automotive component manufacturer.

JOB PURPOSE - An exciting and demanding role focussing on developing and overseeing the implementation of purchase strategies for a nominated commodity.

RESPONSIBILITIES - You will use your experience in developing and overseeing the implementation of Purchase strategies which underpin supplier sourcing recommendations for a nominated commodity. You will carry out purchasing research for key commodities/products to support regional requirements as well as raw material cost and trend tracking. Cost reduction programme tracking in conjunction with regional operating companies is also part of the role with Make vs Buy analysis as required. You will also assist in the Supplier development process to ensure success and prepare, submit and analyse Request for Quote for nominated commodities.

You will be responsible for reviewing, analysing and negotiating contracts within budgetary limitations, scope of authority and collaboratively with regional operating companies.

As a representative of the Purchasing department you will assist with New Project introduction and provide input with justification with regard to forecast spend and purchase price variance data for the commodity under management.

Your opinion will be highly valued, therefore you will be providing input, with justification, with regard to forecast spend and Purchase price variance data for the commodity under management.

Local and international travel will be required as deemed necessary by the organisation to perform the role satisfactorily so an in date passport and driving license is required.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE/ KNOWLEDGE -· Degree level (related discipline), CIPS Qualified (not essential), computer literate, extensive experience of purchasing commodities in a fast moving Manufacturing industry, report writing, problem solving, supplier development principles.
