A role has recently become available in a specialist school for children with learning disabilites and autistic spectrum conditions, a lot of the children have complex behaviour issues and also communication difficulties, resulting in the need for a qualified speech and language therapist to be permanent placed at the school.
Your role will involve you working as a lead in a communication team to offer support to the children as they attempt to build and develop theier language capabilities to focus on functional skills in everyday life.
You will be taking the lead on all communication and language issues and act as a point of contact and reference for educational staff and the residential support teams.
You will be tasked with managing a caseload of childrenand young people with complex communication difficulties and care needs all the time assessing and updating the care plan in line with internal standards, with a focus on increasing communication from students and support staff.
The role is suitable for all types of therapists, whether newly qualified or highly experience. The salary and support will obviously reflect this.
Job role in term time only and comes with excellent benefits and working conditions. You will be encouraged to use your own judgement to suitably assess the young people.
