Job Description
Position: Surface Treatment Engineer
Location: Fareham

Key Responsibilities
Material Preparation: Prepare the materials for heat treatment by cleaning, inspecting, and organising them according to specifications. This may involve removing contaminants, applying protective coatings, or performing surface treatments.
Equipment Setup: Set up and prepare heat treatment equipment, such as furnaces, ovens, quenching tanks, and other specialised machinery. Ensure the equipment is calibrated, properly maintained, and in good working condition.
Heat Treatment Process Execution: Follow heat treatment procedures and guidelines to perform specific processes, such as annealing, tempering, quenching, case hardening, or stress relieving. Monitor and control temperature, time, and other variables to achieve desired material properties.
Monitoring and Testing: Monitor the heat treatment process using various measuring instruments and gauges to ensure the accuracy and consistency of the treatment. Perform quality control tests, such as hardness testing, microstructure analysis, and dimensional inspections, to verify the material properties meet the required standards.
Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of heat treatment parameters, process times, test results, and other relevant data. Complete heat treatment logs, inspection reports, and other documentation in compliance with quality assurance and industry standards.
Qualifications and Experience
Education in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field is preferred.
Proven experience in surface treatment engineering, including expertise in coating, painting, plating, and other relevant surface treatment processes.
Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to surface treatment in the aerospace industry.
Strong understanding of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with clients and candidates.
Detail-oriented with strong organisational skills.
Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
