Job Description

Residential School for children with autism and aspergers syndrome is currently recruiting for a Therapy Assistant to work within the school and join the theraputic team of Occupational Therapists, Speech therapists and also school nurses.

Your role will be to offer assistance and support to these departments, with a high level of 1-1 working and small group sessions which support sensory and emotional/behavioural needs through a range of theraputic practices.

The overall aim is to see a positive difference in the children through theraputic strategies which are to be embedded in the daily classroom and boarding environments.

You will be challenged on a daily basis while carrying out this role, you will get to work with a large number of children and will have the oppourtunity to form strong bonds and relationships through effective communication and advancement of the young people.

You must have previous experience in a similar role working in therapies with children with autism and some challenging behaviour, also due to the rural nature of the school you will need to be a car driver.

The job role is term time only, 39 weeks per year.

You will work with teachers and therapists to ensure that therapeutic strategies are embedded into classroom and boarding environments.
