Trainee Estimator - Excellent progression opportunity!

Due to growth and internal change the company are looking for someone who has a strong administrative background and experience within a sales support environment to join the team as a Trainee Estimator. You would be working for a company who are the world leader in their field with a turnover of £100 million!

The Trainee Estimator will assist in the preparation of formal tenders and quotations to customers. You will ensure that formal quotations and tenders are compliant with the technical specifications, that the scope of works and costings have been reconciled and formally agreed and that contract terms and conditions are acceptable.

This is an excellent opportunity based in Petersfield. As well as a competitive salary of circa £20,000 - £22,000 benefits include: 25 day's holiday, a pension scheme, onsite parking and childcare vouchers.

What you will be doing:

You will coordinate with Technical Design to ensure that the Technical specification is compliant and approved, as well as coordinating with the Sales Person/Project Manager to ensure the scope of works are agreed and fill incorporated into the quotation. You will reconcile all current costings and coordinate with Commercial to ensure that the T&C's which the bid is submitted under are acceptable.

The role will include preparing and implementing check lists for technical submission, scope of works, attendances and preliminaries. Assisting the Bid Team Leader in maintaining the quotation bank, you will ensure that all quotations are up to date and accurate.

As well as the above you will learn how to obtain quotes from key suppliers and sub-contractors, reviewing a validating each to ensure scope and specification is compliant as well as reviewing drawings and technical documents before preparing estimates alongside the Bid, Procurement and Sales teams.

What do they want from you?

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (primarily Word and Excel).
  • Administrative and some financial duties within a similar environment.
  • Knowledge of an MRP system.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A good attitude and eager to learn
