Job Description

Due to expansion we are working closely with an established, local client with an excellent opportunity they have for a Trainee Project Manager. They are ideally looking for someone who has around a couple of years' experience within a construction related environment (ideally with experience supervising teams) and wants get into a more office / project based role.

The role would be based from their office in Glasgow however you would be expected to visit sites further down the line as projects require.

The salary for this role is £20000 per annum plus a company car (also a laptop and phone), 25 days holiday per year (rising with service), training in Projects, working for a large, national company that is family owned, opportunities to progress, and a contributory pension scheme.

Requirements:

1-2 years in the construction or a related industry

Have some experience working on projects medium to large projects

Must possess excellent communication skills

Good negotiating skills, able to build strong relationships, comfortable organising people and driving tasks through to completion

Good computer skills, MS Office and Excel

Able to understand building specifications

A valid UK driving licence is essential

NVQs or HND level qualifications in related disciplines (desirable)

Self-motivated and works well in a pressurised environment

Ambitious with a desire to develop your career quickly

Have a considered, thoughtful approach

Approachable and pro-active

Displays enthusiasm


The role:

This a very hands-on role, you would be managing large projects from point of order to through completion and overseeing installation, mostly within commercial and industrial markets.

You will be involved at every stage including visiting clients for initial meetings, managing technical issues, design, procurement, manufacture (including sub-contractors), expediting, correspondence, commissioning, finance/budgeting, handing over to the client.

You will be expected to complete projects safely, meeting quality standards, within budget and completed on time.

You will be regularly liaising with the client and project suppliers at all times, keeping the client fully up to date with progress.
This role is predominately office based with some travel to site as and when required plus visiting clients around the UK.
