We are currently recruiting for an Underwriter on a permanent contract to work for a large Financial Services company based in Portsmouth. The company is a specialisit in their field and have a modern office with a great office environment (cheap Costa Coffee!)
This role will see you being responsible for assessing a customer's financial situation using a set of pre-defined guidelines taking into account information provided by them and also the credit reference agency.
You will obtain and review the details given by the customer including name, age, DOB, address and employment details and go through the customers' credit report to establish a lend limit for the customer. You will always need to ensure the product being purchased fits the lend criteria set out. You will have the ability to redefine the term of the agreement based on the details provided and always keep the gateways up to date with all information to keep others informed.
You will be reviewing referred applications within a timely manner with the Acquisition Team and external members of staff to ensure the customer is always at the heart of the decision making. Confirming details of the lend limit and factual information with the sales person you will strive for consistent decision making so the Sales Advisor can proceed with the application adhering to policies and procedures at all times ad a fair outcome for the customer.
Please note, the standard hours of work are 37.5 hours per week, and the rostered hours will be worked on a shift pattern of between 8am and 8pm Monday - Friday. Some weekends will need to be worked and the hours would be Saturday 9:00 - 17:30 and Sunday 10:00 - 16:00.
You will only work 5 days per week.
What we want from you -
Experience of working as an Underwriter for a Financial Service or Insurance Provider with a proven success. Good communication skills both written and verbal with excellent attention to detail. You will need to have strong knowledge of FCA regulations and have the ability to work as part of a team as well as individually.
