Master Vendor Solution

Requirement:  Master Vendor recruitment solution for an international company who operates across the UK. This fast growing UK manufacturer recruits for specialist engineers, office support and production staff.

Against a backdrop of high employment and an engineering skills shortage in the UK, they were looking for an effective Master Vendor who could co-ordinate all of their preferred recruitment agencies whilst improving the standard of candidates and fulfilling all contract positions.

Locations: UK Wide

The challenge:  The client and their recruiting managers were wasting time liaising with multiple recruitment agencies. The calibre of candidate varied and there were no service levels in place and no overall accountability for filling crucial contract roles.

This was effecting productivity, growth and the ability for them to deliver on time for their customers. How they were represented in the candidate market varied dependant on the level of the recruitment consultant and recruitment fees varied resulting in less control on recruitment spend.

What FPR Group did: Successfully presented our bid to the board of Directors and won the Master Vendor contract.

Utilising our 25 years’ experience our account team implemented a Master Vendor solution and negotiated with the previous recruitment partners to uniform all fees and introduce  a service level agreement to ensure best professional practice as set out by the Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC).

By meeting and working closely with the second tier suppliers we were able to set these expectations with regards to the calibre of candidates and how they were engaged with.

We put in place an experienced and dedicated recruitment team made up from our specialist divisions. They forged close relationships with the recruiting managers across all of the UK sites.

To improve the overall calibre of candidates we introduced occupational intelligence testing. We also introduced professional psychometric profiling within the recruitment process to identify the core characteristics required to be successful.

The result: In the first two years the Master Vendor agreement resulted in 66 permanent jobs successfully filled and 57 contract staff supplied across all sites in the UK Site. The solution saved £75,000 in direct recruitment costs and over 175 hours where they would have liaised with multiple agencies.

With the time freed up the account team was able to gain an excellent understanding of each site resulting in strong relationships being forged with recruiting managers and being able to bring each job alive for candidates.

The client has recently renewed the Master Vendor agreement.
